Construction Manager: Nuclear Projects

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Construction Manager to lead the delivery of complex construction works within the nuclear sector, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient execution of all site based activities. The Construction Manager will be accountable for the planning, coordination, and delivery of multi-disciplinary works on live and new build nuclear facilities, with full responsibility for safety, quality, and programme adherence.

This role requires a strong understanding of nuclear site licence conditions, regulatory requirements, and construction delivery within highly regulated environments.

Key Responsibilities:

· Lead and manage site based construction operations to ensure delivery in line with programme milestones, cost, quality, and health, safety & environmental (HS&E) expectations.

· Develop, implement, and maintain detailed construction execution plans, method statements, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.

· Ensure compliance with all nuclear safety, security, and regulatory frameworks, including working under Nuclear Site Licence conditions and maintaining strict control of construction works within regulated areas.

· Coordinate and integrate multiple work packages, managing subcontractors, direct labour, and supply chain partners.

· Collaborate with engineering, design, and commercial teams to drive constructability and resolve technical queries.

· Lead and chair regular site progress meetings, reporting status to senior stakeholders and regulatory bodies as required.

· Maintain rigorous QC standards and promote a strong nuclear safety culture across all site teams.

· Champion behavioural safety, actively leading toolbox talks, site briefings.

· Support project risk management processes, identifying potential delays, disruptions, and proposing effective mitigation strategies.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

· Proven experience as a Construction Manager or Senior Site Manager within the defence, or highly regulated sectors.

· Demonstrable knowledge of construction protocols, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance requirements.

· SMSTS / CSCS Black Card (or equivalent).

· SC Clearance (or willingness to obtain) DV Clearance desirable depending on project scope.

· Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams on complex infrastructure projects.

· Strong understanding of CDM Regulations, NEC3/4 Contract awareness.

Desirable:

· Degree/HNC in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.

· Experience working with Tier 1 contractors on major infrastructure or decommissioning projects.
